If the competition was based off of who has the best video, wouldn't it make sense to award it to the school that has the best video? She's not going to award it to a special needs school just because she feels sorry for them. That would be even more offensive. They're a school in a competition and not a charity. The over reactions and meltdowns in here are unecessary. Not trying to be insensitive, but that's just how the competition went

If the woman thought that the special needs children were going to win just for being special needs, then it says more about her character than it does Katy's. Being special needs isn't an "edge" and shouldn't be exploited to win a competition.
This doesn't reflect on who Katy is as person and doesn't erase all the philanthropy and charity work Katy has done in the past. Stop.
