Justin Bieber impersonator imprisoned for six years
Quote:
An IT expert who pretended to be Justin Bieber online to prey on girls as young as 12 has been jailed for six years. County Court judge Lisa Hannan described Kent Andrew Garrett, 42, also known as Orson Kent, as "every parent's worst nightmare" after he had been caught grooming the girls on the internet.
A summary of the prosecution case against Garrett revealed Australian Federal Police accessed Garrett's laptop internet browser after his arrest on March 2, 2012, and discovered he had set up a fake Hotmail account claiming to be Justin Bieber. The email account's inbox contained numerous emails attaching images of young girls exposing their breasts and genitals. Garrett also operated a Facebook and Tinychat account claiming to be Justin Bieber to attract his naive victims.
Police said the girls who sent various emails to Garrett's Justin Bieber Hotmail account were "convinced that they were in fact corresponding with Justin Beiber and the offender took steps to convince them".
On March 10, 2011, one young girl wrote: "Hi Justin, I'm sorry for not believing you." On March 21 she wrote, "I'm just crying a bit, I need to talk to you, please jb." Garrett replied to one girl that he was "just chillin in Japan". The real Justin Bieber had been on tour in Japan at the time. One girl told him she was jealous of Selena (Gomez, Bieber's then girlfriend). Garrett responded with a poem, ending with: "Never say never, believe that truth is lies, believe in me, like you believe in the sun. Yours, Justin." ( )
