It's starting to get kind of annoying that all anyone does in regards to feminism is debate its definition in the media and what it is/what it isn't, instead of being proactive and actually trying to help impoverished women in developing countries. In the past year, people have just been writing opinion pieces on the internet about feminism, and then maybe they go on CNN to discuss Beyonce or Emma Watson, and they talk about ****-shaming vs. empowerment, etc. But no one's actually doing anything. And it's so annoying because whenever you bring it up, someone turns around and snaps "WHY CAN'T WE JUST HAVE BOTH?! WHY CAN'T WE DISCUSS FEMALE SEXUALITY AND HELP GIRLS IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES WHO ARE BEING SOLD AS CHILD BRIDES, GETTING RAPED, NOT RECEIVING EDUCATIONS?!?!" And the thing is, yeah, you're right, we can discuss both, but we're not. All we ever do is have the same conversation again and again and again about pop stars owning their sexualities. And it's not just an ATRL thing. It's on CNN, it's on Huffington Post, it's on MSNBC, it's on Fox News, it's on Buzzfeed. It's the same conversation over and over. "Feminism is not man-hating, it's about equality" and "bad role model for young girls vs. sexual empowerment."

At the end of the day, nothing is actually being achieved. It's just a bunch of opinions on the internet so arts majors can get pay checks. People who are so passionate about feminism need to start doing more than saying "I THINK..." and writing opinion pieces on the internet, just so a bunch of readers can write their comments underneath and argue with strangers online.

Are you trying to say that only "relevant" woman should consider themselves feminists.

I'm saying when all other career choices fails (in her case rapper, radio personality, web personality, DJ, singer, journalist) why not go pander to a fringe group? Glenn Beck got rich off it, Stacy Dash is doing it, that Anita Sarkeesian does it. Perfect way to stay relevant.
