A second film is currently being planned and developed by Paramount Pictures. According to the Internet Movie Database director Mark Waters will return to do the sequel, currently set for a 2009 release. The sequel has been written by Leslie Dixon, (Freaky Friday, Hairspray) and Gail Parent (Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen). Both screenwriters have previously written Lindsay Lohan films. However, there has been no word on whether Lohan or any of the original cast will return.

I highly doubt the original cast will return.

It's funny how all of the ATRL buzz around Mean Girls [] got high and now this apear .

I don't think the original cast will return but a little role will be nice.

They can even take it one step further and make the original cast, or at least the main roles as the mothers of the now "mean girls" if they want to do a proper sequel.

Though, I'm up for a new concept and something new...They'll have a hard time topping the first one that's for sure.

They cant top Mean Girls one.. :-/

It won't flop, it will have a MASSIVE opening week if they pick the right people. That doesn't mean it'll be good though. Tina isn't writing it so it won't be nearly as clever.

Definately not, especially for straight-to-DVD. Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, and now Amanda Seyfried (because of Mamma Mia!) are too high profile actors to do something like this.

It will be a disaster no doubt. And I highly doubt the original gonna come back too.
