For the first time in six years, the country with the best
"brand" in the world isn’t the US - it’s Germany.
More than 20,000 people from 20 countries were quizzed on
their perceptions of other nations. And, for the second time
in the 10-year history of the Anholt-GfK Roper Nation
Brands Index, Germany came out on top .
It seems that the country may have its football team to
thank for that.
Polling took place in July 2014, just after Germany had won
the FIFA World Cup. The global perception of Germany’s
sporting excellence rose more than any other category for
any other country included in the index.
The study measures 23 attributes, separated into six overall
categories that affect national image: exports, governance,
culture, people, tourism and immigration/investment
Germany - which previously held the top spot in 2008,
during George W Bush's presidency, when the US's
international image was weaker - also enjoyed strong gains
in the areas of honest and competent government,
investment climate and social equality.
“Germany appears to have benefited not only from the
sports prowess it displayed on the world stage at the FIFA
World Cup, but also by solidifying its perceived leadership in
Europe through a robust economy and steady political
stewardship ,” said index founder Simon Anholt, the
independent policy advisor to heads of state around the
world who claims to have coined the term “nation
branding”.

They probably asked 19,000 Germans and 1,000 other people Germany? Fat chance. Oktoberfest and sauerkraut does not the best country in the world make.
You know Germany is more than just Oktoberfest? And believe me, other countries have more festivals than Germany, like WAY more. Germany is a VERY organized and disciplined country.
