Ava DuVernay's SELMA is a triumph! Standing ovation. First that I've seen at #AFIFest. Oscar contender across the board. Typing thru tears.

Selma is fantastic. Simply. Powerhouse. Moving. Superb. #oscars
Scott Feinberg @ScottFeinberg Oyelowo as MLK in SELMA: one of the greatest performances you'll ever see.
Kristopher Tapley @kristapley
Superbly edited and Oyelowo is wonderful. Tim Roth great in small, slimy role as Wallace. This movie was ready to show.
Courtney Howard @Lulamaybelle
#Selma: a triumph. Absolutely incredible, powerful, passionate, poignant & profound. Shows an iconic figure as human. Congrats @AVAETC!
Andrea Mandell @AndreaMandell
Standing ovation for SELMA at #AFIFEST. Best actor race just made room for David Oyelowo.
gregoryellwood @HitFixGregory DuVernay deserves a best director nod. #Selma #oscars

I don't know what the critics will think and I have no idea what Academy voters will do but holy **** Selma. What a great ****ing movie.
Kristopher Tapley @kristapley
Important film at an important time. Voting rights under fire as we sit here. Powerful.
Matt Dentler @MattDentler David Oyelowo is as mesmerizing as you'd hope, playing MLK, in SELMA. And a true MVP is DP Bradford Young. Exquisite camerawork.
Brad Pitt & Oprah are executive producing. I see it showing a strong run at the Oscars. I expect a "Best Actor" win. It's also good that it is getting a late Oscar hype to be fresh in the voters mind.
They didn't even get nominated for the SAG awards(due to no screeners). I'm hoping it becomes a serious Oscar contender and snatch some GG noms tomorrow.
100% still with 80 reviews and a 9/10 average! I bet this will sneak into the Oscar race despite not getting that much love at any of other other award shows.

That sadly has to do with the film being rushed to get made in time for awards contention. A lot of the major guilds didn't get sent screeners. That hurts it's momentum but it'll still do good nomination day.
This movie was phenomenal. The performances, the script, all amazing. But what was more amazing was how powerful (and relevant) this film is. I hope it receives some nominations this award season. Because it definitely deserves it. Definitely Top 5 of 2014.
