Mariah's peak was not overrated. She sold 80 million albums in 10 years and had 15 #1s. What else is there?

What I'm talking about is the top selling album out of all the albums released in a (actual, January-to-December) calendar year. So out of all the albums released in 1990, the highest selling one.
This is why, in the link you provided, High School Musical is listed as the best-selling album of 2006, yet Taylor Swift (also released in 2006) sold more copies overall. Of all the albums released in 2006, Taylor Swift was the best-selling. The same is true for every other Taylor album apart from Speak Now. Mariah, will hugely successful in the 90s, never dominated quite to the same extent.

Lol Cap already debunked this mess.
But this is also hilarious.

2 Diamond albums, + debut @ 9.8 million, once it reaches Diamond she will be the 2nd female ever to hit Diamond 3 times.
2 Song of the Decades.
9 consecutive multi-platinum albums.
18 #1's over 18 years.
Artist of the Decade.
Airplay Records, Album Records, and Single Records.
#1's every year for a decade, multi-platinum every year for a decade.
If that's not "close to Taylor's extent" that's hilarious.

You're still not getting it. Those two albums both sold over 10 million copies in the US, more than Mariah Carey and Gonna Make You Sweat, the #1 and #2 albums on that list. Because that list is only for sales within that November to November period. What I am talking about is LIFETIME album sales.

Who would've thought that this would be Taylor's biggest era ever? They said she couldn't top Fearless, she debuted over a million. They said he couldn't top Speak Now, and she debuted with 1.2M and got her first #1 single and a huge follow-up. They said she was in trouble for abandoning country, and she opens with 1.3M, gets her second #1 single, has an even bigger follow-up single, higher week-to-week sales, and more debut sales abroad than any of the other girls. LORD.

And then she had several more successful albums

Not even #1s. Taylor (or any other popstar for that matter) will NEVER EVER have a classic album like Merry Christmas.
Woo! Am listening now and I'm just...elevated.

Well then, you're not talking about "January - December".
You should have said that Madonna's and MC Hammer's in the end sold more than Mariah's album, but that's not the same thing as saying that they had the better selling albums of 1991.

I am talking about albums RELEASED within that January to December period. They had the better selling albums RELEASED in 1990.

You're correcting him, but he's talking about something totally different. Mariah had the best-selling album in 1991. That's what he said.

3 Diamond Albums, Song of the Decade, Most Impactful Female Song Ever (AIWFCIY!), Best-Selling Christmas Album Ever, 15 #1's. 9 Multi-Platinum Albums, Radio Records, and not to mention Artist of the Decade in 10 years.
I'm really confused on how going multi-platinum and getting 2 #1's cancels out these lifetime achievements.

It was perfectly fine and this is something that has been discussed many times on this forum.
