Interstellar is a great film. It is no shock that the audience enjoyed it. It was genuinely moving and could make anyone come to tears. Unfortunately, Nolan will have to live with his worst film, The Dark Knight *****, as his highest grossing film.

Films are adjusted for inflation all the time. Why can't music?
fff. That's good point. It doesn't make sense to me either tho.
The price of movie tickets has far outpaced inflation.
Clearing $1 billion in 2014, when movie tickets regularly cost $9 or more is way easier than doing the same in 1936 when a movie ticket cost 25 cents, or about $4.22 in 2014 dollars.
