no controversy for men's perfect body?
Last week there was controversy for the new "Victoria's secret" campaign which tried to show the perfect body for women ,So women around the world gets upset
But why that doesn't happens to men??
In every tv show or movie all the actors have their perfect bodies
Without going any further All the vine's guys has that perfect image: baby face, ripped body
And the youtubers too( they always show their bodies in every video)
So me as a man I'm really upset because I feel that they doesn't show real people
I work out really hard and I feel like people expect me to have the perfect body cuz I'm a guy and I work out everyday cuz I Feel the pressure
Who is with me?

Because men are not supposed to be little bitches about body image. So don't be one.

Because society looks down on men experiencing insecurity, especially body-related, and doesn't acknowledge it.

It's not the easiest to get, but it's possible to get the "perfect" male body image.
For girls a lot of body expectations are 100% unrealistic.
There should be more to stop unrealistic body expectations for men though, people just don't care since a lot of guys are really arrogant about body image.

If you work hard for your body you should be able to flaunt it. I don't think its a bad thing. Guys generally are more secure in their bodies imo

You define what you think the perfect body is. Don't let anyone else influence that. To hell with what people think, tbh. Like, **** them.

There's so many factors at play:
Men are meant to bottle up their emotions and insecurities. It's not "manly" or "masculine" to talk about the fact that body image issues are affecting your self-esteem and mental health.
Men usually don't go through unhealthy behaviour to achieve the perfect body. Women often starve themselves or binge and then force themselves to throw it up, while for men to achieve "the perfect body" there's no other way to do it than to be as healthy as possible. Eat lots of protein, lift heavy, do a lot of cardio, etc. I know that eating disorders still exist in men, but that's not the body type we're talking about.
Also, a lot of straight men don't cave in to those societal pressures like women do. They just laugh and go "ehh, look at the pretty boy we've got here" and then just carry on eating crap food and drinking lots of beer, which they love way more anyway. The ones who do cave in to those societal pressures love it. They love that they have muscular dysmorphia. It motivates them to train harder. They see photos of big bodybuilders as their "fitspiration" (or "fitspo") and use it to motivate themselves.
I think young gays who don't like their bodies are the men most affected by male body image issues. Whereas all women seem to be affected by body image issues, no matter what their age, shape, size or race. Way more men are secure with their bodies, and the ones who aren't have been conditioned not to talk about it.

Maybe. But all I'm saying is workout because you want to look good and get healthier, not because you wanna fish for compliments and "approval" by everyone around you.
Once you start playing the appeasement game, it never stops because you will always think you're not good enough for society.

Men dont have the same societal pressure to look perfect as women do.
And its men that set both the standards for themselves and women, men that largely control companies and filmmaking so excuse us if we try and help the women first tbh.

Because society does not allow men to have insecurities, body issues, eating disorders, mental health issues, low self esteem. Society is bs.

I agree with this. People should stop bitching and complaining because that gets them nowhere also, they are probably jealous because they are fatter than the beautiful and skinny models. How embarrassing.

Society looks at men and women in completely different ways.

Men aren't judged as harshly for their physical appearance like women are. If a man doesn't have the perfect body, it's okay so long as he has a nice personality or is smart. If a woman doesn't have a perfect body, it doesn't matter what skills or talents she has, she may as well be trash. So in that way society's body expectations for women are more of a pressing matter than society's body expectations for men. There is more of an importance placed on women's looks while it's not really that way for men most of the time. Although obviously there are many boys out there with body insecurity issues, and they should be taken seriously.

Some of you are disgusting with regards to this. Why try to act macho on ATRL?
I agree completely. Why should there be a "perfect" body? I like slightly chubby guys and I'm never attracted to abs and muscle, it's annoying we take this to be "perfect". It's wrong. I don't aspire to look like that and I shouldn't have to either.
The only thing is I hate when men use this as an argument to lessen the important of feminism (which actually includes this kind of stuff but for people who think it's only about women in particular).
