Police Chief Rich St. John said that at about 7 p.m., Jeremih and several other people with him ordered food at the restaurant and began to hassle the staff.
When asked by the manager to calm down, members of the group accused the manager of being racist, grabbed a microphone at the counter used it to call out orders and began speaking into it, St. John said.
The manager asked the group to leave and offered to refund their money, at which point somebody either spilled or dumped beer in the counter area and a neon sign, and at least one beer bottle broke, possibly from being thrown, St. John said.
Broken glass apparently landed in the fryer, forcing the restaurant to shut it down temporarily.
