Do we?

- Capitol is owned by Universal so that corporation already own the album that the label produced
- they need to recoup their costs
- 14k first week = $140k (the artist usually gets 9% of this) so the album release was indeed viable
- if Banks has signed to Capitol then why was she so excited about leaving Universal who she then went and signed with again?
- if she is just under contract for this one release then she is essentially without a deal once they pull the plug which could be within a few weeks from now

She said in the interview with Pitchfork she is still independent.

She recently said she is still independent and plus since she signed an exclusive liscense and contract with Polydor and Interscope for WW distribution and promotion, it is unlikely that she'll ever sign to Capitol.

So it is best if she signed to Sony Music, she also made it clear that she should of singed with Sony.
