Why aren't Slasher films the norm in the horror genre anymore? I'm so sick of the supernatural crap we've been fed to since Paranormal Activity 1 came out.

The most recent slasher film was See No Evil 2 directed by The Soska Sisters

The slasher genre ruled the late 90's

because its the same damn storyline... nothing new, nothing exciting.

If you're watching Slashers for the plot you're doing it wrong

Yet that's the same thing with every Paranromal Activity and Blair Witch movie ever released

and last I checked

Halloween (1978)

is nothing like

Scream (1996)

There hasn't been a high budget one recently... they used to be so popular with so many franchises so they really milked the genre. There's not much left to explore so any new slasher film will probably only receive mild acclaim and decent box office numbers.

To answer the thread, idk. I mean, it could be lack of interest or something. I'm dying for a new slasher film that'll give off a few sequels.

That's why I get so much life when watching the Halloween, Jason, and Scream films.

Honestly, one of the best slasher films. It's one of the newer films that actually scared me. It was so good.

Have you seen the Canadian slasher film American Mary and "Torment" starring Canadian Scream Queen Katharine Isabelle? They're both on Netflix

Because they're not exciting anymore. Give it a few years, they'll come back and people will be here for them again

Scary movies run on a trend, they all go through periods. You had the time when they pumped out devil-related movies one after the other, then came slashers, then came torchure **** type movies, now we're in that paranormal type movie phase again. We just need another defining slasher movie to shift the trend again, like Paranormal Activity popularized the found footage type movie.
