Discussion: Why did Gaga get hate for supporting gays but Nick doesnt?

How come ATRL constantly bashed Gaga for supporting the gays it's a problem but Nick Jonas can tease and practically flirt with the gays with nothing but support from ATRL

So repetitive, Nick got like 7 threads in the past week about "selling out", "selling sex", "pandering the gays", etc... two in the last 2 hours and then they act like he doesn't get backlash

Gaga actually put her money where her mouth is. Going to a gay club and lifting up your shirt is hardly groundbreaking.

I don't have a problem with Nick though, more power to him.

Because it's a lot less socially acceptable for a straight man to accept gay people than for a woman to, and so it is kind of a big deal. Nick's not using it as a way to exploit gay people (not that Gaga ever was, but that may have been the wrong perception of her).

Saying it's misogyny is odd though. Most of ATRL stans for female pop stars... like, what?

The fact that she was fighting hard against DOMA, and Don't Ask Don't Tell should tell you she went out of her way for our rights. If anything, her afilliation with gays kinda hurt her career a bit so what exactly did she have to "exploit"? Educate yourself on societal issues and how Gaga have been an activist for our rights since the beginning.
