there's actually psychological proof that the way you're raised, especially in your very early years, shapes you to the point that your brain attributes (not just your thoughts) can change based on your experiences. it's those years where you develop social skills and the ability to have healthy attached relationships (with a lot of that based on your interactions with your parents), and it's really rare for people to completely change their values once they've developed them
