Each year, The Advocate magazine selects one person who has had the greatest influence on LGBT people as its Person of the Year. Much like TIME magazine’s award of the same name, the recipient doesn’t have to be an advocate for LGBT people, or even a good human being; it’s given to the person who was most influential in the LGBT community in the past year.
