The Weinstein Company has revealed the full official cast for Oscar winning writer/director Quentin Tarantino's upcoming post-Civil War western The Hateful Eight.
The Hateful Eight are:
Samuel L. Jackson as Major Marquis Warren
Kurt Russell as John “The Hangman” Ruth
Jennifer Jason Leigh as Daisy Domergue
Walton Goggins as Chris Mannix
Demian Bichir as Bob
Tim Roth as Oswaldo Mobray
Michael Madsen as Joe Gage
and Bruce Dern as General Sanford Smithers
Channing Tatum has also signed on for a role in the project. Here is the official synopsis:
Set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, the story begins as a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice.
Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie's Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass.
When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces - Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern).
As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all.
The Hateful Eight is produced by Richard N. Gladstein, Stacey Sher and Shannon McIntosh and will be presented in 70mm. It is expected to hit theaters in December 2015.
I'm glad he didn't throw away this movie after it leaked. I can't wait for it.
Me too! He was so excited about it before it was leaked, and seemed rather defeated when it did. I remember when he said he wasn't going to do it for years how sad I was. Glad he didn't let the hater stop his vision.
Update on Channing's involvement. I thought he was going to be a minor character seem otherwise.

Channing Tatum is eyeing a role in Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight, according to Deadline. The website claims Tatum is "circling a major role" in the film, that begins shooting in early 2015.
Should Tatum join, he'll be working alongside the likes of Samuel L Jackson, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, and the recently announced female lead Jennifer Jason Leigh, who is set to play the part of Daisy Domergue; a wanted criminal being transported by two bounty hunters.
Aside from The Hateful Eight, Tatum is also set to star as X-Men's Gambit, in a film produced by Days of Future Past's Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner, with a script reportedly penned by Robocop's Chris Claremont.
