Imo, its true that its the future but it needs to be refined more so that it becomes perhaps just as profitable as single/album sales for the artist especially if the said artist sells tons of copies and could've benefited more from not having it there.

This.

@ people "siding" with Adele's manager, thinking he's going against Taylor. He's basically saying the same thing as her: That streaming is the future (if you read what Taylor said, she also admitted that streaming will be ubiquitous in years to come), just that the current model is not working. And that's true.
Free streaming services like Spotify and Pandora need to sit down with artists and managers and figure out a way to make their service profitable for everyone, not just one party. Just because streaming is the future doesn't mean that artists don't still deserve to get paid well for their hard work. Like he said, many of these songwriters and producers have families at home.
Also, I'll keep saying it because people keep bringing up the "touring and merch" thing: Not every artist gets the luxury of being able to make their living off of touring, selling merch, perfume and getting sponsors. That stuff only works if you're big. Small artists, songwriters, producers and composers (i.e. the majority of the music industry) cannot and should not have to rely on things like that to make a living. Those things are fine if you're an "artist", it's kinda the name of the game. But there's so many people behind the scenes that cannot do those things for one reason or another. They still deserve to be able to make ends meet in their industry.
