The mere fact that you have to attempt to defend this says A LOT.
It's because the South has a ton of bigmouth idiots who ruin the image of the party which really isn't as religious and extreme as y'all perceive it to be.
This doesn't anger me because I disagree with Republicans on most everything, but because this just means that there's not really going to be any progress whatsoever for the next 2 years. Obama's presidency has been riddled with stagnancy and gridlock; this isn't going to help things one bit.

Essentially, the House and Senate make bills with 50% majority. President can veto them. Then the veto is overridden if there is a 66% majority. Since the Republicans have a majority of Congress, but not a 66% majority, basically nothing extreme on either side will be passed.
It's one of the main branches of government. The Senate and House of Reps. will now both be controlled by Republicans, and the executive branch (President) is Democratic. That likely means that nothing will get done over the next two years, or that the Senate/House will start reversing things that the Democrats did these last six years.
If you say you disagree with Republicans on almost every GET OUT OF THIS THREAD. The economic policies of the Republicans,which are actually important and not the bullsh*t social issues you ATRLer's cling too are miles better than the Democrats. Literally theres a few old Republicans against gay rights and you all go crazy. Please educate yourselves.
