You know the scarves I'm talking about. They look like this...





I know I'm extremely late on this, but I just found out today that the scarves are very symbolic to Muslims I think it was and it has something to do with the war. Here I was thinking it was just a fashion statement when in reality it's a controversial piece of cloth. Can someone please explain? Does anyone here wear them and why?

I have a black and white one, which I bought last year. I only wore it onced with a waist-coat, and I only wore it because adults were wearing them and I wanted to copy the style. I wasn't wearing it for anything controversial.

Oh.. I have 2 of those.. one white and black, one turquoise and black.. didn't know they were called Keffiyah scarves, always referred to them as fringed houndstooth scarves. I think it's better to be blissfully ignorant than worried if they're controversial or not :\ How'd you find out

actually yeah its related to muslims. first time i saw chris brown wearnig it i was like, is he going to be muslim? LOL

I was thinking about buying one today so I was googling "those black scarf bandana things", "everyone has scarf bandanas", etc. and then I found an article explaining that they were called Kefiyahs and the author was furious that americans were wearing them without knowing the significance. Thanks for the insight everyone
