She's making $$$$$$$ off of all of those things.

The point is she shouldn't HAVE to do all that to make money. She's a songwriter and musician first, she should be making money off of MUSIC sales. That's what she's in this business for.
And to hell with fragrances and tours and sponsorships.

What about smaller artists that aren't big enough to sell fragrances and billions of dollars worth of merch, and sell out madison square garden? They're literally screwed in the ass by Spotify every time someone plays their song. This is about way more than Taylor's sales. She doesn't need Spotify to make money, her music will sell regardless of what service she uses (spotify, google play, itunes, amazon, etc). This is about the industry as a whole and getting songwriters, producers and artists the FAIR payment that they DESERVE for their hard work.
You wouldn't expect to do your job for free. You wouldn't ask a plumber to spend weeks fixing your bathroom for one dollar. You wouldn't ask a lawyer to represent you through a trial for one dollar. So why is it ok for us to expect musicians to hand out their music for free? They work just as hard at their job as anyone else and smaller artists (i.e. the MAJORITY of the music industry) needs more than a 1 dollar check to put food on the table.
