Iranian-British girl gets prison for going 2 volleyball game

An Iranian-British woman detained while trying to attend a men's volleyball game has been sentenced to one year in prison, her lawyer said Sunday.
Mahmoud Alizadeh Tabatabaei told The Associated Press that a court found Ghoncheh Ghavami, 25, guilty of "propagating against the ruling system."
Ghavami was detained in June at a Tehran's Freedom Stadium after trying to attend a men's volleyball match between Iran and Italy. Women are banned from attending male-only matches in Iran and Ghavami tried to enter the match with other women to protest the ban, according to Amnesty International.
Women who sought to attend the World League match in June were reportedly turned away from the stadium. Female photographers inside the complex were ordered to leave though none were arrested.
Women are also barred from attending soccer matches in Iran, with officials saying this is to protect them from lewd behavior among male fans.
Iran's judiciary spokesman, Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejehi, has criticized reports linking Ghavami's arrest to volleyball, saying last month: "Her case has nothing to do with sports."
Some countries are so extra about everything People should be free to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone. And the government needs to stop holding this people like slaves.
I know a lot of people will disagree with me but I do feel like these countries with primitive, hateful laws need international intervention. Those enforcing these laws got to GO.
I remember going to a soccer game in Iran and seeing no women there because of the rule, which has been in place for a while . The only good thing is that slowly the country is becoming progressive, but I do mean SLOWLY. I just hate when stupid stuff like this happens. There's been worse things though:
For things like these I'm grateful to live in a western country, our system is NOT perfect at all but I prefer it 1000x times than these oppresive regimes.
That's why I when I see europeans or americans defending Russia, Iran, Arabia Saudi, etc and bashing their countries, so ungrateful, they're lucky they were born in those western countries but they don't appreciate freedom...
This reminds me of that video where some young Iranians filmed themselves dancing to the song Happy by Pharrell. They posted it on youtube and they were punished by getting flogged!!!
