IDGI, is this saying its a stupid idea or is there some LGBT rights group called "Nonsense"?

Anyway, I don't think it's that necessary (like a lesson exclusive to talking about gay rights). Can't speak for everyone but it's really awk whenever we watch a video or something to do with Gays in class, everyone stares at me

They're saying it doesn't make sense to teach gay rights in schools. Just British values.

Idk i think schools should teach about sexism,racism, and homophobia/gay rights. Kind of like social relations class? Or something... because a lot of people are ignorant or intolerant of others and don't know how to talk about these things. Having a class that focuses on having an open discussion or teaching students about inequalities or discrimination people face will be so beneficial

If LGBT rights form a small part of the "British values" then that makes sense.

Education to do with attitudes towards ethnic minorities and women are just as important.

I think the struggles of every minority group need to be taught in school. Making students more cultured and less ignorant is what a school is supposed to do.

Yes. It's important to teach values to children. Not only gay rights but women rights and all types of phobias society is dealing with.
It's sad but some children don't get those values from home and the only way society changing is teaching our youth that gay is ok, women are equal, trams are ok, black is ok, etcetera...

Whether it belongs on the curriculum or not is completely different debate, but the way they expressed their opinion is just plain stupid and offensive.

The subjugation and death of millions and destruction scattered throughout most of the world. But I guess that doesn't matter?

They don't have to teach it to kids they can teach about it, but schools should not be giving political instruction or telling children what policies to support.

Schools dont exactly have to teach gay rights, Its not like 8 year olds can vote.

i think homophobia and struggles of gay people are part of history, so they should be taught in history classes. there should also be classes relating to social issues but i don't think those should be required, just available. but i still think it's important for people to know the context behind why the gay rights movement started in the first place, and besides that history shouldn't be censored (even though i know it's always going to be, it still shouldn't in principle).

I'm British and I don't remember if I was ever taught about this kind of thing. I guess it was mentioned here or there generally but nothing explicit that I can recall, whereas lessons about different religious groups and cultures where more of a common thing. I think the biggest shame was that my sex ed class only talked about straight sex. No help whatsoever.
