- Lady Gaga's debut album The Fame was a success in the Top Electronic Albums chart where it debuted at #01. The album has peaked at #05 in Australia, #04 in New Zealand, #73 in France and #40 in Switzerland.
- Just Dance, the first single from The Fame was a hit in clubs in the U.S. peaking both at #02 on the Hot Dance Airplay, and Hot Dance Club Play during the summer of 2008. It charted the Hot 100 that summer and eventually broke into the Top 40. The song stands at #02 currently on the Billboard Hot 100.
- In the UK, Just Dance debuted at #03 selling 40,537 copies from download sales alone. |
11. Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga takes over the #11 spot. She broke into the music scene with her infectious track Just Dance which is a successful song especially here in ATRL. Her album The Fame composed of hard electropop tune which will surely get you in the floor when you listen to. She then followed up her Just Dance single with Beautiful Dirty Rich, a track used in Dirty Sexy Money, and Poker Face. She made even a controversy with Christina Aguilera copying her looks. Truly Gaga made a splash this year and expect more music from her in the future.

- David Archuleta became the American Idol Season 7 runner-up.
- David's self titled debut album debut at #02 on the Billboard 200 chart with sales of 183,000 copies in the United States. As of December 2008 the album had sold 566,000 copies in the United States.
- The first single from David Archuleta Crush debuted at #02 on the Billboard Hot 100 with 166,000 units sold. It has sold over 1.3 million copies in the United States, making it the most commercially successful song by a seventh season alum thus far. |
10. David Archuleta
To the Archie fans or simply Archietechs, your favorite Idol is next in my list. David Archuleta is first seen in American Idol Season 7 being the runner-up to David Cook. He then released his solo effort which span the smash hit Crush which is totally a hit here in the Philippines. The single also debut at #02 in the US Billboard 100. I have to admit I like his music, sweet and mellow. His second single A Little Too Not Over You is currently my favorite song. So expect more from David this 2009 because I'm sure he will be even huge this year.

- Katy Perry released her album One Of The Boys. The album was certified Gold in the U.S on September 22, 2008 and has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide.
- I Kissed A Girl, which was penned by Max Martin and Cathy Dennis, topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 7 weeks. The song has since become a major worldwide hit, and along with the United States. The music video received five nominations for the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, including Best Female Video and Best New Artist.
- The follow-up single Hot N Cold has peaked at #03 on the U.S. Hot 100, making it her second top three hit. Hot N Cold has been certified platinum by the RIAA. |
09. Katy Perry
Katy Perry made it big this 2008 with her worldwide hit I Kissed A Girl. With the title of the song, you will know that it will be talked about by many people. The single peaked at #01 in the Billboard chart for seven weeks and is crowned as the summer song for 2008. She followed up I Kissed A Girl with a more upbeat tune Hot N Cold on which Katy score another Top 3 single. With this success, there's a lot more things to expect from Katy next year, we just have to wait and see.
