my family's irish so they're not that weird to me, but i can definitely see how they can be confusing. a lot of the letter combinations don't match up to the sounds they make. (i.e. the "bh" in "siobhan" STILL often causes a lot of confusion for non-irish people, and it's a fairly common name.)
