how are people defining "impact" exactly, tabloid magazine front covers and entertainment tonight references? Who has been influenced by Britney besides the influx of teen stars that were more a product of the recording industry at the time rather than a genuine musician being enthralled and engaged in the sound of the artist? Impact doesnt come until years later, and Britney cant really be heard in any of todays artists.
Taylor Swift NOW in the U.S is pretty much on the same level as Britney was at her peak. I was old enough, I remember the first time I watched the Baby One More Time video (It was a TV that was on display at Bradlees, remember that store?), she was a force but Taylor is simply at that level now, anyone who denies it is simply clinging onto nostalgia.

Britney's selling power and impact are vastly overrated on this website. Most people in the GP imagine some half-crazy blond fool who can't hold a tune to save her life and who was bald a few years ago.

I would agree that not many artists reflect Britney today aside from Miley's shock tactics, but that is because her style (while much more distinct than Taylor's) was a teen pop version of Janet Jackson. Though I should say Britney's vocals are all her own style and are highly distinctive.

Her only memorable moment was in 2009 when Kanye interrupted her.She's been in the industry almost as long as Rihanna and Lady Gaga but we don't see anyone from the new ones saying ''I'm inspired by Taylor Swift but there has been a lot of Rihanna and Gaga wannabees.
Eminem bashing her, the JT relationship, the VMAs, the anti-Britney stars like Pink and Avril, the sales, Oops I did it again,I'm a slave 4 u, TRL/MTV, Baby One more time, the media, the Rolling Stones covers.. etc and I'm not a fan for more than a decade now
