It's not normal behavior, not in a big city. He singled her out and we all know why he said it and it wasn't out of respect or friendliness. She was a young, attractive and alone.
It's just one out of the many examples of men displaying predatory behavior.

Can you read their minds? How do u know that some of them aren't just being genuinely friendly? I live in NYC as well and I realize that no one gives a crap about other people in the city but I was raised to be polite and at least say good morning if you have eye contact with someone which imo is what most of the men did except for the creep following her which is obviously totally wrong.
