Well if that's what he means, then I disagree? The question of how and why we are here will always be debated, and as long as it's debated there will always be the side that believes in a creator. Why, because people like me will think that the idea that we and the universe came from nothing simply makes no sense.
If we who are mortal ants compared to the whole universe can make life happen, make another being exist then why is it archaic and silly to believe that a far more superior being than us can make life in general as we know it happen?
And besides, atheism is an ancient belief as well. It's not some modern concept. So yeah, no sense.
