they are suppose to protect and serve, make you feel safe but do you fear them instead?

I have so many family members who are cops. I have never been arrested or even given a ticket (although it was more than deserved on numerous occasions), and have never really been given a reason to fear them. I understand that they abuse power and have killed innocent people too many times though. I don't fear them though.
No because they haven't done anything to me and because they don't seem to target me that much. Well, people of my ethnicity are targeted by the cops a lot in certain areas but it hasn't happened to me ever
Not really afraid for myself, I just don't trust them (especially white cops #sorry)
I'm afraid for my brother though because cops, especially in NY have a reputation for harassing minorities (Stop&Frisk, agressiveness, shooting)
And it's usually the female cops who are the meanest. I think due to a need to compensate for their being female
