Selling copies in the US is far more impressive period. Hence why UK based artists are consistently trying and would give their right legs to break in the US, regardless of how much they have sold over there. And they don't have multiple #1's here.

A copy is a copy yes? How is selling 250,000 in a country with 300 million people is more impressive than selling 300,000 in a country with 60 million?
UK artists trying to make it in America has nothing to do with this? Obviously since more people in America -> more music buyers -> higher sales, but all in all where each albums is sold doesn't matter because they'll get the same amount of money back anyway, probably more in the UK since the £ is worth more than the $.
