The irony is Hilary isn't cool enough for Boom Clap. Don't think it would've been the same hit with her name attached. Plus with how they've treated her comeback, her people/label would have dropped the ball striking with BC even if it did have a chance. Whilst Charli/her team/label made the appropriate, swift moves to ensure it continued to grow into a smash.

I'm pretty sure her team didn't actually say that it's not cool enough for Hilary, that's just Charli's hipster lingo. They probably just didn't think it would fit in with the sound of the album, since she's supposedly going with a folky-pop sound. Anyway, Hilary loves Boom Clap.

She wrote Boom Clap like a year ago, but didn't know what to do with it, and she's a fan of Hilary's, so she sent it in to Hilary's team. Now she wants to write another song for Hilary.

Well her team would still be stupid in rejecting the song - without even letting her hear it (as it seems is the case), as they could've just reworked the song. Charli seems to be the type to go that route, not necessarily being protective and wanting to keep the synthy-sound.

Plus does that mean the twang-trap-pop bop All About You isn't making the album? Cause it's nowhere folky-pop.

It was just a silly decision. I still don't think it would've been huge, but BC is a great POP song and could have found some type of ground compared to what CTS/AAY has done for her so far.

The banjo, a folk instrument, was heavily used in AAY, so I think it can be considered folky-pop.

Hilary was actually supposed to have a session with Charli but it didn't work cause of schedule conflicts, they were flying in two different directions at the time.
