2) But why does the number matter? There is a limit. There is a cap. It might be able to sustain what we have now, but it can't sustain where we will end up at the rate our population is growing.

3) But it's an argument that fits very much under your thread: the resulting response to your thread would be, using that as backup, "it doesn't matter." Because truthfully, it doesn't! The answer is yes for other reasons, but that answer matters very little in the end.

hey, local psychology major here to say that the most commonly accepted consensus among researchers is that there's an inborn component that leads to homosexuality but environment also plays some role. basically, the answer is kind of complicated and subject to interpretation, but there's no doubt in my mind that there would be gay people in the world no matter what society we were in. gay people have legitimate biological differences in their brain BUT environment actually has a significant effect on your brain so much that you can literally change brain shape, size, and function based on what you've been exposed to, especially in your developmental years. there's a possibility that without our current society nobody would develop homosexuality even though they would be born with the capability to be homosexual. there's a very good chance that some brain differences gay people have they're born with, but what environment they're exposed to can change whether they end up being gay instead of just having a possibility to be gay. a lot of this is just assumptions though. we don't know for sure why gay people's brains end up being different. it could be because of a lot of things.
so...i think so, but there's no 100% certain answer, unfortunately.

you're both wrong. there's no specific, single gene for sexuality, but other genes influence it. most genes do more than one thing.
