That video was so ridiculous I almost can't believe that she really did make that video.
I love the letter. I love the concept. I love that she knows she has to sing crass lyrics over a sparse dance-pop beat to get back on the charts and win back her "fairweather friends" as she calls them. After years of not having any commercial success, she's mocking foolish pop songs and crappy viral videos that do have success while her relatively decent music fails to garner attention. The best part is that this will probably skyrocket up the charts due to the very people she's mocking. The irony is fantastic. She's created one of the most intelligent things to happen to pop music in a long while.
I can't wait for the album and for this to hit iTunes. It's going to be fantastic.
Apparently, this is from a project called "The Gray Life" and Macy Gray is creating an alter ego called "Nemesis Jaxson" in connection with the project. Also, one of Macy Gray's sites that I found linked to her MySpace said that "Slap A Bitch" would be on iTunes December 16th. Obviously, that didn't happen so I'm not sure what the story is with this song being released to iTunes.
