Facebook has lifted the lid on its latest app Rooms, which lets anyone start discussions about their favourite topics.
The app - which is available on iOS only for the moment - is much like traditional forums and you don't need a Facebook account to get involved, nor an email address.
It is also a move away from Facebook's usual conduct, allowing participants to discuss topics anonymously.
The rooms are comprised of photos, videos and text in a similar stream-style to Facebook and Instagram. The person who creates the room can choose how it looks and who is allowed to participate, set moderators, impose an age restriction and kick out bad members.
Josh Miller developed the service within Facebook Creative Labs, but the service is not similar to Snapchat as previously reported.
At present, Rooms is available for iOS users in the US, UK and some other English-speaking countries. (read full article)
It's an interesting app except for the fact that you have to take photos or screenshots of QR codes just to access discussion topics.
