Miami, FL (CNS) - Women are ruling the world of pop music, according to readers who voted in the survey asking them their Top Songs of 2008. The entire Top 5 are female solo artists and only two entries in the Top 10 this year are male. The largest amount of votes went to one song who's repetitive chorus might just be stuck in your head through 2009 as well. These are the Top 10 songs of 2008 as voted by AHN readers.
1. "Womanizer" - Britney Spears Blaring sirens kick off Britney's dance/pop return which just might be her most infectious single yet. And for the record, she says "womanizer" about thirty-five times.
2. "Just Dance" - Lady Gaga feat. Colby O'Donis Lady Gaga heralds the start of her music career by declaring "Just dance" and millions of people have followed suit to her RedOne produced hit.
3. "Disturbia" - Rihanna Rihanna's biggest single of the year delved into darker territory and the pop princess took a stab at a "Thriller" of her own with a freaky video and performances.
4. "I Kissed A Girl" - Katy Perry Katy Perry kissed a girl and her bi-curiousity earned her legions of cherry chapstick-wearing fans.
5. "So What" - Pink This year's anthem for anyone lovelorn (unless your ex was indeed a "womanizer"), Pink's self-empowering hit had everyone feeling they were "still a rock star."
6. "Viva La Vida" - Coldplay "But that was when I ruled the world," frontman Christ Martin sings on the band's sunniest single yet and their biggest U.S. hit.
7. "American Boy" - Estelle feat. Kanye West Estelle's U.S. city name-dropping against a Daft Punk-inspired beat and one of Kanye's best guest raps proved to be an internationally winning combination.
8. "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" - Beyonce Musically, "Single Ladies" picks up right where "Get Me Bodied" left off. Except this time, she's kissing off a jealous ex who should've proposed if he thought she was so irreplaceable.
9. "Live Your Life" - T.I. feat. Rihanna The smash "Dragostea Din Tei"-sampling hit became T.I.'s second #1 from "Paper Trail" and Rihanna's fifth stint in the #1 position.
10. "Run" - Leona Lewis The British import scored an international hit with "Bleeding Love", and now she's moving up the charts with her cover of Snow Patrol's power ballad.
