And Puerto Rico already voted for becoming a state but it hasn't happened because America didn't want it.

I just don't see what America has to gain. And they have much to lose. They'll have to use AMERICAN tax dollars on welfare programs for a bunch of Puerto Ricans living in what would be the poorest state in the nation! They won't be able to run military bases and bomb tests like they do now.

And worst of all the flag would have 51 stars... all the 51-star designs are ugly because it's an ODD number! "Puerto Rico" doesn't sound like an American state either... they would have to change the name to "Port Rich".

You do know that Puerto Rico already receives aid and benefits from the U.S. and that they are American citizens right?
So at this point in time they're receiving money and benefits from us but we aren't quite reaping anything in because they aren't a state and they don't pay any federal income taxes to us amongst other things.

All former Presidents have said it's up to Puerto Ricans so it's just a matter of time if the statehood movement grows.

This won't happen. If there is a 51st state it will be Puerto Rico. They already have some cute designs for the flag

The US is already full of Spanish and French sounding cities and states because of colonization. Los Angeles (The Angels), San Fransisco, San Diego, Bâton-Rouge, Saint Louis, Detroit (Strait in French), Florida, Louisiana, Maine etc. They just don't sound foreign because you're used to them or because they've been anglicised.
