I say this as someone who ACTUALLY grew up with DC comics - not the movies or the animated shows (although I obv watched them), but the GD comics - DC has yet to put out a really great film since TDK so clearly Marvel is winning in the film realm right now.
Now TV is a different story altogether.
Only when it comes to $$$ because the movies (and I watched all the newer ones from Iron Man to The Avengers) are...
Though I'm yet to watch The Winter Soldier which I heard was great
Omg when ScarLegend and The Hulk tearfully touch hands. This is gonna be a very deep, powerful, emotional, multi-layered film about the human experience.

Every single film from the MCU is quantifiably better than the only film from the DC Cinematic Universe.

Man of Steel -
AoU will probably be just fine, but hopefully Whedon injects a real sense of scale into it. Guardians of the Galaxy felt like a bigger movie than Avengers 1, and that's because James Gunn can actually shoot like it's a FILM, not like it's an episode of Buffy.
