"Twilight" To Be Adapted Into A Philippine TV Series
Manila, Philippines (CNS) - Because it's so popular right now, the vampire flick "Twilight" is being adapted into a Philippine TV series, with teen stars Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao playing the lead parts.
The Stephanie Meyer novel has been bought by TV network ABS-CBN with Ignite Media for more than $1 million for the upcoming "fantaserye" show. The working is "Takipsilim," which is a tagalong word for twilight.
This will be a reunion for Cruz and Magdayao, both 19, who were love team partners in the earlier stage of their careers. They are getting the roles of Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson in the Hollywood film version) Isabella Swan (Kristen Stewart).
"Box office director" Cathy Garcia Molina is set to helm the series.
The unofficial line-up of casts includes the TV network's roster of talents such as Valeen Montenegro (Alice Cullen), Gabby Concepcion (Dr. Carlisle Cullen), Luis Manzano (Emmet Cullen), Joross Gamboa (Jasper Hale), Yayo Aguila (Renee Dwyer), and the newest recruit, Karylle (Rosalie).
It has not been disclosed if the characters in the TV adaptation would be keeping their names as they would sound so westernized in the Philippine setting.
The production is set to kick off in February, with locations covering Baguio, Tagaytay, Bukidnon, and overseas.

The Philippines to film their own Twilight
The cash cow expands across the world
ABS-CBN bought up the rights to Twilight and will be filming their own version in the Philippines, yehey.com is reporting.
Rayver Cruz will play Edward and Shaina Magdayao will be playing Bella. The story will be considered a “drama, romance and fantasy” and focus particularly on Edward and Bella’s love. It will be directed by Cathy Garcia Molina as a made for TV film. Takipslim will be filmed mostly in the Philippines with some scenes shot abroad.
Our Take: Alright, while many Twilight fans have already crucified me, it is here that I’m going to defend them.
Back in the day (let’s say a few months), there was a bit of debacle over an Indian Bollywood film that too closely resembled a Harry Potter movie. I love me some Potter, so I was upset. And this is where I sympathize with Twilight fans: if you really love something in its original form, it sucks to watch it be abused merely as a cash cow. I’m all for dubbing or subtitles, but this might take it a step too far. Anyone with me?

Filipino Version Of Twilight To Begin Production Soon
OME!
Tweenies all over are outraged over news of a Filipino version of Twilight for television set to begin production soon.
Actors Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao will be portraying Edward and Isabella, respectively, in the ABS-CBN production which will treat the vampire love story as "drama, romance, and fantasy."
It will be directed by Cathy Garcia Molina and is scheduled to begin filming sometime in February, in both the Philippines and abroad.
The news comes as an upheaval to Twilighters across the internet, who have started an online petition to halt production on Takipsilim because it will "ruin the real Twilight."
Oh don't worry, the American money-grubbing sequel is already working on that!

The Philippines Will Get a Whole New 'Twilight'
Move over Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart; there's a new Edward Cullen and Bella Swan in town!
No, there aren't more cast shake-ups going on with the breakout-hit Twilight series. Rather, the teen vampire novel has been adapted for a television movie to be aired in the Philippines, separate from the box-office smash currently in movie theaters around the globe.
The website Yehey reports that Filipino actors Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao, both 19, will star as Edward and Bella in the locally-televised version, to be broadcast on ABS-CBN.
The network and co-producer Ignite Media purchased the rights to Twilight for more than $1 million, with taping to begin in February.
With that kind of cash to throw around, here's hoping the Filipino adaptation ends up standing on its own against other hits to come out of the country—such as last year's viral prison-yard phenomenon, "Thriller":
