IDK about his case but in my senior year of high school you didn't need to stay the whole day, just as long as it took for the classes you signed up for to be done so some people would leave like 2 hours early
In my school district you needed a note to sign out early if you were 17 or if you were 18 you could sing yourself out but you would still get an absence for the classes you missed. I however always stayed the whole day cause lol why not
