According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reggie Hudlin (director of House Party, producer of Django Unchained; and a former writer of Marvel’s Black Panther comic) will be executive producing a live action “Static Shock” series based on the Static comic created in 1993 by McDuffie and Robert L. Washington with artist John Paul Leon for Milestone Media’s imprint at DC Comics.
Although Static originated in the world of comic books, the character is perhaps best known for the “Static Shock” animated series that premiered in 2000. McDuffie was also a writer on the “Static Shock” series.
“Static Shock” and the Static comic revolved around Virgil Hawkins, a teenager who found himself with electromagnetic based superpowers after an event called “The Big Bang” created several metahumans. As Static, Virgil was one of the few superheroes to emerge from “The Bang Babies.”
Yes Jaden Smith is a contender for the role unfortunatley
