VERY true.

Teachers get 3 months of vacation each year in the summer alone. Add in Winter break, spring break, and the odd holiday here and there, teachers only really work 8.5 months out of 12.

If a teacher's salary, on the mid-low end is 35,000/yr, dividing it by 8.5 months = 4,235.30, which makes for 50,800 in salary if they HAD worked all 12 months.

So really, teachers aren't THAT underpaid.

That's why discussions about higher salaries can never be productive.

No one's job is easy. There are jobs that are overpaid, but that all fits into demand and profits. A basketball player may seem overpaid for making $18 million until you realize the dude who owns the team makes $100 million

In response to a few pages back; Professors might not make much from the University, but almost all of them have full benefits for their entire familes, early retirement deals, and get their main source of income from being an expert in their field.

For example, my Econ teacher made six figures (six NICE figures) annually by teaching during the week, and then on the weekend charging hundereds per hour to council small businesses on how to handle their money.

I am studying to be a nurse and while I wouldn't mind them having a higher pay bracket (especially the NHS nurses), there are ways that you can make major cash as a nurse. If you specialise into a specific area and join an agency you can earn over £50,000 a year. One nurse I knew earned over £70,000 a year but that was with a lot of night shifts, long days and being on call 24/7.

OT: I would say Teachers.
