Does the usage of "Homosexuals" instead of gay bother you? Do you assume the user is homophobic or ignorant? It really gets on my nerves. I don't mean in official documentation I mean every day use.

Well, I'm straight, so it doesn't bother me, but I don't see why it would bother anyone. To be fair, homosexuals would be the correct term when referring to anyone attracted to the same sex. "Gay" is actually intended to refer only to males attracted to males, but people use it as a general term for anyone attracted to the same sex, which is technically incorrect.

Whenever I see it, I read it in Karen Walker's voice. I see it as a term of endearment

In Sweden the equivalence of "gay" has become a bad word, much like "f*ggot", so I usually use the word homosexual because it sounds better in my language.

Term "homosexual" doesnt bother me, but the situations cited in the op are definitelly annoying and ignorant.

Homosexuals doesn't bother me. Gay doesn't bother me. But if someone says ****** or queer, I drop them to the floor.
