Katy sound is more Dr Rape than MM. If anyone inspired Taylor's pop sound it's obviously the Empress.
Melody is the most important ingredient and that is always provided by Max, he has no comeptition in this field. But I agree that his production is stale and he needs people like Dr Puke.
