Man eaten by wild bear after suffering heart attack

REDWAY, Calif. -- A wild black bear ate most of a Northern California man who likely died earlier of a heart attack, officials said Friday.
Humboldt County Deputy Coroner Roy Horton said he believes 65-year-old Marion Williams died outside his trailer in a remote area before the bear came upon him.
Authorities discovered the remains on Monday after friends reported Williams missing for five days.
Officials tried to trap and kill the bear but called off their attempt because it is doubtful the bear is still in the area near the man's home in Redway, about 75 miles south of Humboldt, California Department of Fish and Wildlife spokesman Andrew Hughan said.
"We're not going to find the bear," he said. "The bear was behaving naturally."
An investigation revealed no signs that the bear attacked and killed Williams. Rather, Horton said that he believes the bear came upon the man's body and dragged it to a nearby den.
"It looks like he collapsed and died," he said. "The bear comes along and sees a potential food source."
There are no reported cases in California of black bears killing people, Hughan said.
The bear didn't kill the man and they still tried to kill it they changed their mind (or maybe cause they know it would be hard to find the bear)
Right? And it came upon a deceased human being. It did nothing wrong and shouldn't be killed because of it. They usually avoid humans and wouldn't attack another one without being provoked.

Yeah, usually. But once a bear or large predator has eaten human flesh once it can develop a taste for it.
When a wild animal tastes human meat, it will turn into a maneater so it must be killed. There are many tigers, lions and leopards in Asia and Africa who became maneaters.

It's a deceased man eating bear. It didn't attack a living breathing human. They don't do that normally. You're talking about not being able to take ATRL seriously when the only thing you shouldn't be taking seriously, is your opinion on the matter. The professionals aren't worried about it and aren't even going to track the bear. Their opinions are the only one to take seriously. Not some freaked out member of the society with little to no training or information on the matter. Fear creates unecessary situations. Killing it would be unecessary, otherwise they would be going after it. Just like the mountain lion who mauled a living person about a month or so ago, and was tracked down for days, and then killed.
They have to kill the bear. If it ate a human once it will most likely do it again, even if he didn't kill the man.

if a bear eats someone (who was already dead btw) in his natural habitat then that is ****ing nature
so if ur so afraid of getting eaten by a bear then dont go out in the woods
bears do not attack without provocation
it did nothing wrong
so just stop already
