Seriously, I could be ripping Taylor a new one (Olly was stupid about it but he had a point) or Jessie J a new one (body may be on point but "Buring Up" makes no sense as a fall single) or Ed a new one (seriously, that video for "Thinking Out Loud" is magically worse than "Sing" and that shocks me a lot) or 5 Second of Boredom one (cuz "good girls are bad girls that haven't been caught" ain't that deep) or any of the OH MY HELL MUSIC IS SO BORING RIGHT NOW acts out. Instead I have to deal with this issue.
Rixton: we have a Maroon 5. And this song sounds like a direct rip from "Maps" AND "Payphone" AND "Animals" which I didn't think was possible. Look, I know you all mean well but I think its time we put you in a home.

P.S. The lead singer from Keane called, stop co-opting his face already.
The Chart
If I could, half this chart would have been flipped. But there's nothing out there right now worth ranking. Expect chaos the week decent music gets released...

You have clearly overstayed your welcome. Please pick up your check and your eventual People's Choice Award and totally undeserved Record of the Year Grammy nod and get the hell out.

Oh and Korea? We're dealing with a band who's song is called "YOLO"?!?!?!
Are you actively four years behind at all times?

OK, so I went back and forth on this. But it's getting US play now, so it works.
A little bit late, but I don't care, " I Wanna Feel" is fantastic
Tulisa is back!?
Sun Goes Down! I love that song, my new favorite. Robin's album is one of my favorites released this year
That Gwen Stefani song is finally growing on me.
It's techincally Halloween Weekend (lies...) so get your early party on
Next weekend for me tbh!

Nice to see Gwen hasn't ran out of NUMEROUS THINGS TO STEAL FROM since her break.

Also you better CLOCK 5SOS, Poor Amaloner!
Rixton is so lost in their sound, first their lead single having elements of Rob Thomas' songs, now their new single.
But on some real, I don't understand why Olly's lead singles take on a Maroon 5 like sound

Celebrate - Gwen's had a...lets say a "reputation" of co-opting movies/books/whatever for her videos. "What You Waiting For" being Alice in Wonderland, "Rich Girls" playing Pirates while sampling from Fiddler On The Roof, her Frida brows and chola culture in "Luxurious", the utter inanity of using Sound of Music for "Wind It Up," "Early Winter" was something I forget, stealing Madonna's face for "It's My Life," the bindi nonsense, et cetera. Gwen loves a homage and she doesn't even try to conceal it.
This time she's basically made a "modernist" take on The Wizard of Oz (that tornado, the shift in color, yellow brick road, the three characters that appear after she fiddles with her iPhone). Not sure if the dancers are the poppies.
ASF - I just noticed IWF is charting high on the US dance charts and has been playing incessantly at work (yay H&M) so yeah, well past time to chart it.

I mean that's true. I mean if Robbie Williams and Will Young do this type of thing successfully, I guess Gwen will continue the formula for video content
It's just a week to post one of my favorite weird and twisty songs. "I Put A Spell On You."
Granted most of you probably know the Hocus Pocus version, which is awesome. But I still appreciate Screamin' Jay's take on it. It's damn spooking and twisted.
I also really really like this version from Joss Stone. Which may be more due to Jeff Beck. Or Joss clearly losing her mind halfway through (why yes, I love a melodramatic diva perf. Whyever do you ask?).
As well as Nina Simone. Which you all should for she is one of the best ever. And she makes this song a damn story.
So use these to set up your witching hour. Or the Tim Curry one that's out there!

You need a good cry? Check this out. It's a song to his wife explaining that he's accepted that he has Alzheimers and will forget her over time, and is essentially appologizing for "not missing her." He wrote it during one of his periods of lucidity (he's been touring while seeing his Alzheimer's damage him further). It's right there with Cash's version of "Hurt" in dealing with death, dying and memory.

Did you know in Korea they do live concert shows for Halloween? This is both IU (she who escaped her ageyo life by tweeting a pic of her and some Super Junior guy) and Seo Taiji (the father of modern K-Pop). The song is his, he had her do her own version and there are two video for it deplicting a boy and girl remembering (which is mixed with the behavior of the Korean military in the 1980s [/history lesson]). I like IU's version more, hence ranking her.

Can I just say how Lead Chomeo says the "pop the nickle in and come dance with me" hits me rather raw. It's rather impressive since I still sense douchecanoe when I look at him.
