Mother due in court after newborn son found in trash bin

EAST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - An 18-year-old woman facing a list of charges after her newborn was found in a trash bin is set to face a judge on Friday.
Geralyz Sotomayor-Cruz of East Hartford originally went to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford on Aug. 12.
Police said they received a call from Connecticut Children's that Sotomayor-Cruz showed signs of just giving birth but did not have the child with her.
They went to a home on Tolland Street to perform a welfare check and found the newborn male unresponsive and one of the home's trash containers. The child was pronounced dead by paramedics.
An autopsy is underway by the state Medical Examiner's Office.
Police said they served an arrest warrant for Sotomayor-Cruz on Thursday.
She was arrested without incident.
Police charged her with first-degree manslaughter, first-degree assault, first-degree risk of injury and concealment of delivery. Her bond was set at $500,000.
Sotomayor-Cruz will be arraigned in East Hartford.
She's a ****ing piece of ****, I hope she rots in jail. Zero excuses, she could have just dropped him off at a hospital, or a police station or a fire house or a church if her basic ass didn't want him.
I can't even comprehend what kind of ****ing monster you'd have to be to do this. If you want to abandon him, at least leave him outside a hospital or a church or something, why the **** would you kill him
This is why we need to let young girls know that abortion is always an option. A lot of times women are shamed into not even considering abortion, but this tragedy could have been avoided
