Brazilian Superstar Neymar has a million-dollar smile, so foregoing $10,000 to see those pearly whites in person is actually a real bargain. Or so that’s what one 16-year-old girl from El Paso, Texas, is trying to convince her family to believe.
Rhiannon Conelley won a contest run by the Brazilian soft drink company Guaraná and chose a sit-down with Neymar over $10,000 in cold, hard cash. The prize the high schooler chose also includes a free trip to Spain, which is where Conelley will meet her hero, who currently plays for Barcelona, the El Paso Times reports.
Connelley, however,
is still trying to get her family is still trying to understand her decision to forego the money. (HAS HER FAMILY SEEN THIS SELFIE OF NEYMAR WITH HIS PUPPY?!)
Clearly, Conelley does not need to explain her decision, but she did anyway, telling the El Paso Times:
“
I just wanted to meet Neymar, I thought that was more important than the $10,000. Everyone disagrees with that, but I’m sticking to my guns. I mean to go to Spain and meet your idol, it feels awesome.”
Sure,
the two can gab about soccer — Connelley is an aspiring goalkeeper and Neymar can tell her about the time he scored four goals against Japan. But the high schooler has another topic on her mind…
“I’ll ask him if he wants to marry me,” she told the El Paso Times, which added, she said that in jest.
She added, “I don’t want to scare him too much. I don’t want him to call security to kick me out.”
Luckily, Connelley will have some backup around to keep her from fainting after staring into Neymar’s dreamy eyes. Both her mom and her personal coach Gerardo Alvarez will accompany her on her trip, El Paso Times reports.
