I had a similar experience around like 14 or 15 when I would ask religious people who I trusted these same kinds of questions and get these same kind of roundabout generic answers.
And when you start to dissect religion, any religion, you start to see the holes in the official narrative.

Typical, grade schoolers can outwit fundies. Those questions have been answered too many times before by Christian scholars and theologians. They just guested a very bad apologist. Even anyone in Yahoo! Answers would have made a better response to those questions.

Over 50% of the world's scientists believe in a creator. You can quickly find a list of Christian scientists, mathematicians, and philosophers online. Maybe it will wipe that smug smile off your face.
