Arith's Top 50 Singles!
Thanks for all the comments! Let's keep things moving...with this set consisting of the only remaining songs that peaked #10 or higher on the Hot 100.
#08.
Artist: Usher
Song: Love In The Club (feat. Young Jeezy)
Genre: R&B
Album: Here I Stand
Billboard Peak: #01 (Hot 100)
Opinion: If anyone was to actually 'make love in a club', I would be worried. As mindless and pointless as "Love In This Club" was, Polow produced a BANGER. I could have done without Jeezy's verse, but he didn't ruin the song, so oh well... The video feature Keri Hilson as the leading lady, and it was your average run of the mill club video. It peaked at #1 on the billboard chart yes, but it proved to be one of the strong songs from a extremely underwhelming album.
#07.
Artist: Danity Kane
Song: Damaged
Genre: Pop
Album: Welcome To The Dollhouse
Billboard Peak: #10 (Hot 100)
Opinion: The now practically defuct group Danity Kane charts high this year with "Damaged".(produced by Stereotypez). Originally, I hated the song (right along with "Pretty Boy") but it grew on me. It really sucks that A.) The video was cheap and lame B.)They could barely do the song justice live. The song was a hit on the Hot 100, and helped lead their album to #1 on the Top 200 album charts. R.I.P. Danity Kane.
#06.
Artist: Ne-Yo
Song: Closer
Genre: Pop/R&B
Album: Year Of The Gentleman
Billboard Peak: #07 (Hot 100)
Opinion:"Closer" too a while to grow on me, but when it did, I became addicted to the song. "Closer" too Ne-Yo into the Euro-Pop genre (which was supposed to be the entire direction for his album, "Year Of The Gentleman") and I think the change in sound is what caused the luke-warm reception of the song for me.
