2007: Alicia Keys - No One
2006: Lupe Fiasco - Kick, Push
2005: Common - Go!
2004: Snoop Dogg Feat. Pharrell - Drop It Like It's Hot
What an anthem. Natasha Bedingfield amazed me last year with her ballad, "Soulmate", which enters the top ten joints list. This year around,
Angel, a track produced by Rodney Jerkins proves to be more of an urban slant made the cut. The song suits Natasha's perfect harmonies showing her confidence with choruses that drive the listeners to spell along A-N-G-E-L. It's a catchy song with a bridge of love and devotion that most people can relate to as Natasha breaks it down in the middle of the track with lyrics like, "
Tell me why there’s so many good men in the world misunderstood. He’s a dog, he’s no good, I wish somebody would. Disrespect my man, you’re gonna have to come see me. I go hard for my baby, he’s all that I need." Damn, that's some dedication chick right there, rock on Miss Bedingfield!
11. Katy Perry - Hot N Cold
Released: September 30, 2008.
From the Album : One of the Boys
2007: Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats
2006: Beyonce - Irreplaceable
2005: The Game Feat. 50 Cent - Hate It or Love It
2004: John Legend - Used To Love U
From one anthem to another anthem.
Hot N Cold is a feisty pop track that sure got everyone singing along in 2008. The track is filled with choppy guitars and whooshing synths that definitely show its certain charm. It's a fuzzy, bright track that will most likely make you dance along whenever you heard it on the radio. Katy Perry states the fact that some men is always undecided when it comes to love as Perry begins the song with, "
You change your mind like a girl change clothes." The track goes back and forth between up and down, hot and cold, yes and no, in and out, wrong and right, and frankly, with lyrics like that, of course it will stick in your mind for days or months. Perry plays the right card releasing this track knowing everyone will hate her for getting us addicted to the song, but love her for giving us a good time when the track comes on.
