Haven is quite possibly one of the best shows on SyFy. I am shocked there isn't already a thread for this incredible show that takes place in the Stephen King Universe and is based on the story, "The Colorado Kid". But it takes a lot of twists and really picks up from Season 2 on.
It premiered July 9, 2010 and Season 5A will premiere on September 19, 2014.
Premise
When FBI Special Agent Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) is dispatched to the small town of Haven, Maine, on a routine case, she soon finds herself increasingly involved in the return of "The Troubles", a plague of supernatural afflictions that have occurred in the town at least twice before. With an openness to the possibility of the paranormal, she also finds a more personal link in Haven that may lead her to the mother she has never known.
Over time, Parker, who has quit the FBI to join the Haven Police Department, begins to realize that her arrival in Haven may have been pre-arranged and that her name and even her memories may not be her own. As the series progresses, she learns more about the mysteries of both Haven and her true identity.
She and her partner, police detective Nathan Wuornos, find themselves frequently facing problems caused by both the effects of the Troubles, as well as the activities of town folk who take more drastic measures against those who are Troubled.
Main Cast
Emily Rose as Audrey Parker
Lucas Bryant as Nathan Wuornos
Eric Balfour as Duke Crocker
Richard Donat as Vince Teagues
John Dunsworth as Dave Teagues
Adam Copeland (WWE's The Edge) as Dwight Hendrickson
Stephen King References
The show is full of them. The original story is, "The Colorado Kid" by Stephen King.
Throughout the series, "The Stand", "It", "Tommyknockers" and others have been linked to the show. I will flesh out this section. For now, here is a link to some videos of the references. References to Stephen King on Haven
I know! I hope they make the most of them. They said they would film two different endings when Season 5 wraps filming in December. So, at least the show will have a proper ending if it does come to an end next year. Too many SyFy shows get left in the air.
Have you seen the timeline for the show. It's actually cool to see how some of the different episodes in the first three seasons overlap date wise.

Where did you see a timeline? I thought they were filming a double order of 26 episodes that would be like 1 season of a network show but would be split over two years? So they can still get cancelled after season 5?!
They went in with SyFy strongly suggesting it could end and they wanted to give them enough time to finish things up. If the ratings hold up, a 13 episode final season is possible. They are filming 26 episodes right now. They started filming in June and will end in December.
As for a timeline, if you look in the episodes, they have calendar shots that are very apparent and show the progress of the season. Some Season 2 and 3 episodes has scenes that were from the season 1 timeline. All the stories intertwine in terms of dates with the first time jump of the series happening this last season with the jump.

Weren't the episodes in chronological order though?
*Spoilers*
Like Duke gaining powers, Nathan's dad dead, etc... didn't overlap.

Haven takes place over like 40 days. A number of the trouble cases start on the same day, then the timelines expand. Hold on, I know there is a website that maps it out too. It messes with your mind when you see the timeline because it does kind of make sense.
